Fire Fighters SCBA Packs

SCBA (Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus) tanks are designed for dependability as a life support apparatus and engineered for reliability. Rescue gear must be maintained routinely to ensure that your emergency experiences are without incident.

Routine testing of your SCBA tank is required to ensure that the tank is qualified as "compliant" with the Department of Transportation and able to be filled with compressed breathing air, in accordance with the Code of Federal Regulations. Hydrostatic Testing of your tank is mandatory every 3 to 5 years by a licensed DOT Hydrostatic Testing Facility.

Cylinder Testing Services, LLC has been hydrostatically testing SCBA tanks for over three decades. As a leader in the testing industry, we test SCBA cylinders to verify that the tank can hold the air pressure it was designed for.

A visual inspection of the tank is performed in our facility to check for thread imperfections including metal loss, galling, corrosion, cracking and abuse in accordance with the Compressed Gas Association. A hydrostatic test of the tank is then performed by our personnel to "qualify" the cylinder as "able to ensure the integrity of the manufacturer's pressurization requirements".

Once this test is completed, our RIN (Re-qualifier's Identification Number) is stamped into the cylinder and this mandatory "qualification" is generally good for three to five years from the test date.
