Carbonics

Carbon Dioxide (CO2) cylinders are used primarily for carbonating beverages. These kinds of cylinders must be maintained routinely to ensure that your food service refrigerants are without incident.

Routine testing of your carbonic cylinders is required to ensure that the tank is qualified as "compliant" with the Department of Transportation and able to be filled in accordance with the Code of Federal Regulation. Hydrostatic Testing of your tank is mandatory every 5 years by a licensed DOT Hydrostatic Testing Facility.

Cylinder Testing Services, LLC has been hydrostatically testing fire protection cylinders for over three decades. As a leader in the testing industry, we test cylinders to verify that the tank can hold the air pressure it was designed for.

A visual inspection of the tank is performed in our facility to check for thread imperfections including metal loss, galling, corrosion, cracking and abuse. A hydrostatic test of the tank is then performed by our personnel to  "qualify" the cylinder as  "able to ensure the integrity of the manufacturer's pressurization requirements".

Once this testing is completed, our RIN (Re-qualifier's Identification Number) is stamped into the cylinder and this "qualification" is generally good for 5 years from the test date.
